Surprise! This month we're bringing you an exclusive bonus tutorial to inspire you to create your own accessories or handmade gifts this Christmas. We've also included some cards you can download and print to add to your Christmas presents!
1. Screens with UV (Ultraviolet) Resin
Materials:
- UV resin
- UV lamp
- Screen Mold
- Glitter (The one used in the tutorial is part of our Basic Resin Kit )
- Small cups and wooden sticks for mixing ( Basic Resin Kit )
- 7mm rings
- Fish Hooks
- Basic Jewelry Pliers
Instructions:
- Place the UV resin in a container and add glitter of the desired color.
♥ Tip: If you want to know exactly how much water you need for the mold, first fill the mold with water and then pour the water into a measuring cup.
- Mix with a wooden stick.
- Pour the mixture into a silicone screen mold.
- Use a UV lamp to dry the pieces.
- Make sure they are completely dry, and then unmold the pieces.
- Use flat-nose pliers to open a jump ring, place the resin piece, then the screen hook, and close the jump ring.
- Repeat the process for the second screen.
2. Bracelet with Adjustable Closure
Materials:
- Connector
- 1 Yard of Nylon Thread
- 1/2 Yard of Nylon Thread (Can be of another color)
- Glue or Burner for finishing
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut two pieces of nylon thread that measure approximately half a yard each .
-
Thread each of the strands through the holes of the decorative connector you want, and tie a knot on each side. You can use an awl to help you get them as close together as possible.
*Optional: If you want, you can add wide hole beads to decorate the sides of the connector.
- To create the adjustable closure, cross the ends of the threads and tie a knot with an extra piece of thread. Make sure it's not too tight so it can slide.
- Begin making macrame knots as follows:
- With the thread on the right side, you will form a letter P above the threads in the center.
- The thread on the left side will pass over the leg of the P and under all the threads, coming out through the belly of the P.
- Pull both threads carefully to close the knot, so that it is snug but not too tight.
- Repeat the process, this time creating the letter P on the other side.
- Continue until you reach the desired length.
- Finally, cut the threads leaving a small piece which you can glue or burn on top of the other knots.
3. Charm Necklace
Materials:
- Chain (We used approximately 20", but you can use any length you like)
- Charm
- Lobster Closure
- 5mm rings
- Basic Jewelry Pliers
Instructions:
- Cut the chain to the desired length.
- Slide the "charm" or decorative pendant.
- Use flat-nose pliers to open and place a jump ring and lobster clasp on one of the ends of the chain.
- Add a ring to the other end.
♥ Tip: Always open or close the rings with forward or backward movements. Avoid opening the ring to the sides or closing it by squeezing the sides so it doesn't lose its shape.
