Instructions:
1. The first step is to cut two pieces of velvet fabric, using the measurements shown in the diagram. (See diagram #1)
2. Cut an 8"x8" piece of fusible interfacing, place the adhesive side on the inside of the same-sized piece of fabric, and apply heat with an iron until it adheres well. This will help the bow keep its shape.
♥ Tip: You can identify the side of the interfacing that has adhesive by its shine. The side without adhesive is not shiny.
3. Fold the fabric in half with the interfacing facing out, and sew the sides, leaving a space of at least 1 inch in the center.
4. Turn the piece over, making sure the corners face completely outwards.
5. Sew the remaining space using the invisible stitch we showed you earlier, as shown in the diagram. (See diagram #2)
♥ Tip: If you have any questions, you can review the written instructions and the video tutorial: Hairband
Steps to make the invisible stitch:
a. Thread the needle and tie a knot at the end of the thread.
b. Make the first stitch from the inside out so that it is hidden.
c. Make a stitch on the inside of one side of the fabric, and make the next stitch directly on the other inside side. Then, continue on that same side, and cross back to the other side on the next stitch, always on the inside of the fabric, forming a ladder-like pattern, and pulling little by little to close the space. (See diagram).
d. To finish, make a knot in the last stitch and pass the needle through, crossing through the center of the band and coming out the other end, so that the knot is hidden.
6. Fold the piece in half to mark the center, and sew a straight line with long stitches to create a gather by gradually pulling the thread.
7. Wrap the thread around the piece twice and close the seam with a knot.
8. To create the ribbon that goes in the center of the bow, use the other 8" x 3.25" piece of fabric. Fold the fabric in half, measure one inch from each end, and draw a diagonal line down to the folded corners of the fabric. This will form the ends of the ribbon.
9. Sew all sides, leaving a space of at least 1 inch in the center.
10. Turn the piece right side out using a loop turner to make the process easier, and sew the open space with the invisible stitch.
11. Tie the bow to a clip or scrunchie to finish the project.
